Obverse description Central design features a highly detailed imperial five-clawed dragon in high relief, depicted in dynamic coiling posture facing left, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend in the outer field reads, at upper left, the Hanja characters 大韓 (Great Korea) and at upper right the reign date 光武九年 or 光武十年 (9th or 10th year of Gwang Mu era), with the Hangul denomination 반원 also appearing in the field. The Latin legend HALF WON is inscribed along the lower arc between the beaded circle and the milled edge. Raised dots serve as separators between inscription groups, and the entire design is bordered by a fine reeded rim.
