正面描述	Armored and draped bust of King Charles I facing left, wearing a crown, within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend reads CAROLVS·D:G:M:BR:FR:ET·HIB:REX·, identifying the king as Charles, by the Grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland. The value mark X (denoting ten shillings) appears in the field to the right of the bust. The coin is struck in the characteristic irregular flan style typical of Civil War-era hammered gold coinage.
