Obverse description Bare or lightly draped bust of Ptolemy of Mauretania facing right, rendered in a Hellenistic portrait style with finely engraved facial features. The hair is depicted in short, layered locks arranged across the forehead and temples, consistent with royal Numidian-Hellenistic portraiture. A circular legend in Latin characters runs around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is bold and well-centered on the irregularly shaped bronze flan, occupying the majority of the obverse field.
