背面描述 A plain, boldly struck Greek cross occupies the central field, dividing it into four quadrants, each adorned with a cluster of five quatrefoil rosettes arranged in a quincunx pattern. The peripheral legend '*.IN*HOC*SIGNO*VINCES.' — the Constantinian motto meaning 'In this sign, thou shalt conquer' — encircles the design, punctuated by star and rosette stops. The overall composition reflects the deeply Catholic iconographic tradition of the Portuguese royal coinage of the late 18th century. The rim is bounded by fine denticulation consistent with milled coinage of the period.

附加信息

Pedro III was Maria I's uncle before he became her husband — a dynastic arrangement made on the same day in 1760 that Maria was declared heir to the Portuguese throne. He held no independent governing power and predeceased her in 1786, which is precisely why this joint-reign coinage stops at that year. The pairing was politically necessary to legitimize Maria's rule in a court still uncomfortable with a reigning queen regnant.

Gomes MP 06 is among the more modestly produced denominations of the joint reign, struck at Lisbon across a nine-year window with no recorded mint mark variation.
