Reverse description A plain Greek cross occupies the central field, its four arms extending nearly to the border, with a quatrefoil rosette positioned in each of the four quadrants formed by the cross. The circular Latin motto IN HOC SIGNO VINCES (In this sign you shall conquer) surrounds the design, punctuated by quatrefoil stops and asterisks. The legend and cross motif follow the established iconographic tradition of the Portuguese Real coinage. The milled edge border frames the composition neatly.
