Obverse description Crowned facing bust of King Fernando I within a beaded inner circle, the king depicted wearing a crown and draped royal mantle, with the bust shown in three-quarter or facing perspective in the medieval Gothic style. The royal effigy is rendered in low relief typical of hammered billon coinage of the late 14th century. The peripheral legend reads +FERNANDVS REX PORT C-V, with the mint marks C and V flanking elements of the inscription, separated by stops. The legend is contained between two concentric beaded borders forming the coin's circumference.
