| 表面の説明 | Armored bust of Emperor Rudolf II facing right, wearing elaborate plate armor with ruff collar, the effigy rendered in high relief within a beaded inner circle. The legend surrounds the bust along the outer rim, reading RVDOLPHVS II D G R IM S AV GE H BO REX, denoting his titles as Holy Roman Emperor, King of Bohemia and Hungary. The portrait displays the characteristic Habsburg features with a full beard, in the Renaissance style typical of late sixteenth-century Bohemian coinage. |

Rudolf II shifted his imperial court permanently to Prague in 1583, making Bohemia the administrative heart of the Habsburg empire for decades. The Budweis mint — present-day České Budějovice — operated under municipal authority during this period, giving its output a distinct regional character separate from the main Bohemian mint at Kutná Hora. Rudolf's reign also coincided with aggressive output from the Bohemian silver mines, and half thalers from smaller provincial mints like Budweis were struck in comparatively modest quantities against that broader production.
