Reverse description Central field bears the helmeted ducal Saxony coat of arms, the quartered shield displaying the horizontal barry field of Thuringia and the crowned lion of the Landgraviate, surmounted by a crowned helm with foliate mantling. The encircling Latin legend continues the electoral titles of Moritz and includes the date of issue, reading ARCHIMA SCHAL ELECTOR with the date 1550 visible in the field. The composition is rendered in the robust hammered style typical of Saxon half thalers of the period, with a beaded inner border separating legend from central device.
