Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of St. Kilian, patron saint of Würzburg, standing in pontifical vestments and holding episcopal attributes, positioned above a shield bearing the quartered arms of the bishopric. The shield divides the initials S and K flanking the saint's figure, with the date inscribed in the field. The circumferential legend in Latin identifies the issuing bishop. The composition is rendered in the characteristic German Renaissance hammered style typical of mid-sixteenth century ecclesiastical coinage.
