Obverse description Armored bust of Archduke Maximilian III facing right, wearing a ruff collar and decorated cuirass, set within an inner beaded circle. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the late Renaissance style, with fine detail in the armor plating and lace collar. The surrounding legend reads MAXIMIL D G ARCH AVS DV BVR STIR CARIN, abbreviated from his full Latin title as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Styria, and Carinthia. A small cross divides the legend at the lower right. The field between the bust and the inner beaded border is plain.
