Obverse description Central device comprising a double-headed imperial eagle displayed, the wings spread and detailed with feather punching, bearing on its breast a quartered shield of Hungary with alternating barry and cross motifs. Above the eagle, a rectangular cartouche with rounded corners contains the royal monogram legend in raised relief. Below the eagle's tail, the date numerals are struck into the field amid the lower wing feathers. The entire design is executed in the bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Transylvanian emergency klippe coinage, set within the irregular square planchet with rounded corners.
