Beschrijving voorzijde Central quartered shield of arms bearing the combined heraldic devices of Holstein-Schaumburg-Pinneberg, with a smaller inescutcheon at center, all set within elaborate baroque mantling. Three ornate crested helmets rise above the shield, the central helmet surmounted by a crown. The surrounding legend, partially divided by the helmets, identifies the issuing count. The coin's inner border consists of a beaded ring, within which all design elements are contained.

An orb inscribed with a cross is placed on the eagle's breast. The date 1624 is divided and appears in the lower field to either side of the eagle's tail. The surrounding legend names Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II, rendered in Latin. A beaded inner border frames the entire design.

Aanvullende informatie

Holstein-Schaumburg-Pinneberg was a minor German county whose ruling line was already in dynastic decline by the 1620s. Justus Hermann, who succeeded to the county in 1622, ruled during the opening phase of the Thirty Years' War — a period when even small territories with minimal military significance scrambled to assert sovereign coining rights before political absorption made such pretensions impossible. The county was absorbed into Hesse-Kassel in 1640, leaving a window of fewer than two decades in which coins bearing Pinneberg's authority were struck at all.

KM#137 is among the scarcer issues of this short-lived minting period.
