Reverse description A springing horse leaping to the left occupies the central field, with the date inscribed in the exergue below. To the right stands a wildman (Wilder Mann), holding a tree trunk in his right hand; in his left hand he holds a skull, hourglass, pair of spectacles, and a lit candle — emblems of vanitas and mortality, giving the coin its popular designation 'Brillentaler.' The circumferential Latin motto is rendered in majuscule letters between beaded borders.
