| Reverse description | Central field displays the quartered Saxon arms — combining the Thuringian lion stripes and the Meissen barry with the electoral sword — set within an ornate cartouche or shield, dated 1600 in the upper portion of the central device. Surrounding the central shield is a decorative wreath or inner ring composed of multiple heraldic escutcheons representing the various territorial holdings of the Ernestine Saxon dukes, arranged in a circular pattern. A beaded or rope inner border separates the central armorial composition from the outer legend. The Latin peripheral legend continues the ducal titles referencing the Landgraviate of Thuringia and the Margraviate of Meissen, along with the imperial monetary attribution. The reverse exemplifies the elaborate multi-quartered heraldic style typical of late 16th-century German thaler coinage. |
