| Additional information |
Johann Jakob Khuen von Belasi held the archbishopric for an unusually long stretch — over three decades — during which Salzburg's mint operated with considerable productivity to serve both ecclesiastical and regional commercial demand. His tenure coincided with the height of the Counter-Reformation, and the archbishops of Salzburg were among its most committed Habsburg-aligned enforcers in the German-speaking lands. Coinage from this period was as much a political instrument as a transactional one.
The Zöttl reference remains the specialist standard for Salzburg ecclesiastical issues, and KM#182 places this half thaler within a well-documented series.
