Obverse description Saint George depicted in full armour, mounted on horseback facing right, thrusting a lance downward to slay a dragon in the lower field; the Mansfeld arms appear on the shield attached to the horse's flank. A circular Latin legend surrounds the scene, naming the three co-ruling counts of Mansfeld. The composition is rendered in the vigorous German Renaissance style typical of mid-sixteenth-century hammered coinage.
