Reverse description A full-length figure of the Wild Man (Wilder Mann), the traditional heraldic supporter and symbol of the Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel dynasty, stands facing in the field, his body covered in fur or foliage and holding an uprooted tree trunk as a staff in his right hand. He stands on a small ground line, with flowering plants at his feet, rendered in a robust German Renaissance engraving style. The circumferential Latin legend, separated by rosette and floral stops, carries the dynastic motto and the date of issue, here recorded as ANNO 16Z4.
