| Beschrijving keerzijde | The quartered arms of the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg displayed on a crowned shield, encircled by the ribbon of the Most Noble Order of the Garter bearing its motto HONI SOIT QVI MAL Y PENSE, with two rampant lion supporters flanking the shield and a ducal crown above. The fineness designation XX.EINE / FEINE MARK appears divided left and right of the achievement, indicating the coin's silver standard of 1/20 fine mark. The date 1764 is placed in the exergue below. Frederick III was invested as a Foreign Knight of the Garter by King George II in 1741, accounting for the Order's prominent display on this coinage. |
