Beschrijving voorzijde Laureate bust of Holy Roman Emperor Francis I (Franz I of Lorraine) facing right, with draped shoulders, set within a beaded or linear border. The legend surrounds the effigy, commencing at approximately 7 o'clock and interrupted at the top by the crown of the head. The portrait is rendered in a classical Baroque style typical of mid-18th century Habsburg coinage.

Aanvullende informatie

Francis I ruled the Habsburg domains as co-regent alongside his wife Maria Theresa, who held the actual hereditary claim to Hungary — he never held independent Hungarian kingship. The arrangement was politically deliberate: Maria Theresa had fought the War of the Austrian Succession in part to secure recognition of her right to rule in her own name, making Francis's co-ruler status on Hungarian coinage a careful diplomatic balancing act rather than a reflection of real authority.

The ÉH#1288.a and .b varieties indicate documented die differences within the type, catalogued separately by Éremsúlyok és Határozók.
