Obverse description Laureate bust of Holy Roman Emperor Francis I (Franz I of Lorraine) facing right, with draped shoulders, set within a beaded or linear border. The legend surrounds the effigy, commencing at approximately 7 o'clock and interrupted at the top by the crown of the head. The portrait is rendered in a classical Baroque style typical of mid-18th century Habsburg coinage.

Reverse description Crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed, with wings spread, bearing a composite shield of arms on the breast; at the centre of the shield appear the quartered arms of Lorraine and Tuscany. The imperial crown surmounts the eagles and divides the encircling legend above. The mintmark is placed in the lower field, divided by the eagle's tail feathers. The overall design follows the standard Habsburg imperial eagle type of the mid-18th century.
