| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Ferdinand III facing right, wearing armor with an ornate gorget and mantle, set within a beaded inner circle. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Baroque manner characteristic of Inner Austrian coinage. The circumferential Latin legend reads FERDINAND III D G ROM IMP S A G H B REX, with the date 1638 appearing in the lower field. The entire device is contained within a toothed border, itself set on a square klippe planchet with plain corners. |
