Ferdinand II's Graz mint was his home operation — he had ruled Inner Austria from that city before inheriting the imperial title in 1619, and it remained a trusted production center during the opening years of the Thirty Years' War. The 1623–1627 window corresponds directly to the aftermath of the Battle of White Mountain, when Ferdinand was aggressively recatholicizing Bohemia and Moravia and needed hard currency to pay the machinery of that campaign.
Herinek's tight variety range of 711–714 reflects genuine die differentiation across these years, not a single continuous run.
