背面描述 The reverse features a half-length facing bust of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I, turned to the right, holding a scepter over his right shoulder and dressed in imperial regalia. The date 1564 is divided by the imperial effigy, with '15' appearing to the left and '64' to the right. A circular Latin legend surrounds the figure, recording the abbreviated imperial titles of Ferdinand I as Roman Emperor Augustus. The composition follows the standard iconographic convention of mid-16th century German thalers invoking imperial authority.

附加信息

Edzard II, Christoph, and John were the three sons of Enno II who ruled East Frisia jointly after their father's death in 1540 — a co-regency that proved perpetually fractious. Christoph was eventually pressured out, leaving Edzard II and John to divide the county, a partition formalized in 1561. This half thaler dates to the brief window when joint coinage was still being struck under all three names despite the political reality having already moved on.
