Christoph Franz von Hutten served as Prince-Bishop of Würzburg from 1724 until his death in 1729 — one of the shorter episcopates of the 18th century. His coinage program was accordingly limited, and the half thaler series from his reign survives in comparatively small numbers. Würzburg's mint activity in this period sat under the broader monetary framework of the Franconian Circle, which regulated weights and fineness across the region's ecclesiastical and secular issues.
Helmschrot 600 is the standard reference for this type, with KM#282 cross-listing it without significant variety distinction.
