| Obverse description | Central field features a crowned spade-shaped heraldic shield bearing the arms of ducal Saxony, flanked on the left by a palm branch and on the right by a laurel branch, both elegantly framing the shield. The encircling legend reads CARL AUGUST H. Z. S. WEIMAR U. EISENACH, identifying the issuing ruler, with the mint-master initials L S appearing at the base of the design.
