| Obverse description | Centrally placed, large crowned quartered coat of arms of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, displaying multiple heraldic charges including lions and other dynastic devices arranged across several quarters. The shield is surmounted by an ornate ducal crown. Two wildman supporters flank the shield on either side. The circular legend around the periphery reads AUGUSTUS HERTZOG ZU BRAUNS U LUNA, separated by ornamental stops. The overall design is characteristic of the elaborate baroque heraldic style prevalent in seventeenth-century German state coinage. |
