Obverse description Three ornate crested helmets displayed above rectangular cartouches containing two lines of inscription in the field, with no marginal legend. The composition is rendered in the characteristic German Renaissance hammered style, with the helmets arranged in heraldic fashion above the textual tablets.

Reverse description A cross with floriated terminals occupies the full field, with the arms of Schwerin superimposed on the central boss. The upper arm of the cross bears a small tablet inscribed with the mintmaster's initials A H, flanked by the mintmaster's symbol (Z M); the date is divided by the mintmaster's symbol on the horizontal arms. No marginal legend is present.
