Obverse description Ornate interlaced arms of Basel displayed within a circular cartouche of elaborate strapwork and foliate decoration, occupying the central field. The surrounding legend reads DOMINE · CONSERVA · NOS · IN · PACE, distributed around the periphery in Latin script. The overall design is rendered in the Baroque style characteristic of Swiss cantonal coinage of the late seventeenth century.
