| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central device depicts the fortified city gate of Hamburg, rendered as a three-towered castellated structure with an arched gateway, portcullis, and detailed brickwork, set within a beaded inner circle. The two flanking towers are surmounted by domed turrets, while the taller central tower bears a gabled roof. The circumferential legend in Latin reads MONE. NO. CIVI. HAMBVR, identifying this as the new coinage of the city of Hamburg. The hammered flan exhibits the characteristic uneven surface typical of late sixteenth-century municipal silver coinage. |
