Reverse description The reverse displays a large crowned double-headed imperial eagle with spread wings, each head surmounted by a crown and together bearing an imperial crown above; on the eagle's breast is an orb or shield bearing the numeral 12, indicating the denomination of 12 Groschen. The field is filled with the detailed feathering of the eagle's plumage, rendered in the vigorous style characteristic of late sixteenth-century German hammered coinage. A beaded border frames the design, with the circular Latin legend attributing the coin to Emperor Maximilian II distributed around the periphery.
Reverse script Latin
