Obverse description The crowned royal arms of Mary Queen of Scots occupy the central field, surmounted by a high-arched imperial crown. The initial letter 'M' appears to the sinister of the shield and 'R' to the dexter, each accompanied by an annulet below. The quartered shield displays the heraldic arms of Scotland. The entire device is encircled by a beaded inner border, with the regal legend arranged around the periphery.
