Obverse description Central device features a city gateway surmounted by the Sforza dynastic arms displaying the biscione (a serpent), flanked on each side by a rosette, all set within a quadrilobe frame. The quadrilobe is enclosed by a beaded circle. The surrounding legend, rendered in Latin, identifies the issuing lord and runs along the outer margin of the coin.
