Obverse description Draped bust of Henry II of Bourbon-Montpensier facing left, wearing a ruffled collar, with curled hair visible at the nape. The effigy is rendered in a late Renaissance style typical of French feudal coinage of the early 17th century. A circular beaded border frames the design, with the Latin legend running along the periphery.

Reverse description Crowned shield bearing the arms of Bourbon — quarterly with fleurs-de-lis and diagonal bands — surmounted by a royal crown. Flanking the shield to either side are two crowned letters H, the initial of Henry II of Bourbon-Montpensier. A beaded inner border separates the central device from the circumferential Latin legend, which incorporates the date 1606.
