| Obverse description | Bust of Charles I, Duke of Savoy, facing right in the field, depicted in three-quarter view wearing a plumed ducal cap with long flowing hair beneath and armored pauldrons at the shoulder, rendered in the late Gothic style characteristic of Savoyard coinage of the period. The effigy is contained within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential Latin legend reads KAROLVS · DVX · SABAVDIE, interrupted by decorative six-pointed stops, identifying the ruler as Charles, Duke of Savoy. |
