Reverse description The reverse is fully covered with multi-line Arabic calligraphic text in bold naskh script, identifying the issuing sultan and the mint and date of striking. The central field bears the royal titulature and genealogical formula of Sikandar Shah ibn Ilyas Shah, Sultan, arranged in interlaced horizontal registers that are characteristic of Bengal Sultanate hammered coinage. A continuous marginal inscription encircles the central legend, recording the mint name Firuzabad and the regnal year 785 AH. The overall composition is densely packed, with the raised legends set against darkened recessed fields, reflecting the artistic conventions of the Bengal mint in the late fourteenth century.
