Obverse description Central field features the Dutch crowned lion rampant facing left, displayed within a quartered heraldic shield surmounted by a large royal crown. The denomination is indicated by the fraction '1/2' to the left of the shield and the abbreviation 'ST.' to the right, both rendered in bold relief. The overall design is bold and unadorned, occupying the full face of the coin without a surrounding legend, in the austere colonial copper coinage style typical of the Netherlands East Indies issues under Willem I.
