| Reverse description | Central device consists of a cross formed by four stylised tulips radiating from a central point, a design motif closely associated with Utrecht municipal coinage of this period. A small pellet is placed in each of the four angles of the cross. The encircling Latin legend DEVS FORTITVDO NOSTRA, meaning 'God is our strength', runs around the entire periphery, separated by pellet stops. The hammered flan is irregular in outline, as typical of this series. |
