Reverse description The elaborate royal arms of Denmark displayed as a central oval shield bearing three crowned lions passant on horizontal barry field, surrounded by nine smaller oval escutcheons arranged in a cruciform pattern, each containing the arms of individual territories of the Danish realm, including those of Norway, Sweden, Gothia, the Wends, Stormarn, Ditmarschen, Oldenburg, and Delmenhorst. The entire composition is surmounted by a royal crown and enclosed within a beaded border. The two-line circumferential legend, reading clockwise, contains the biblical motto from Proverbs 10:22.
