Reverse description Benedetto Pistrucci's celebrated design depicting Saint George, helmeted and in classical armour, astride a rearing horse and thrusting a broken lance downward to slay a writhing dragon beneath the horse's hooves. The saint's flowing cloak billows dramatically behind him, and the composition fills the field with vigorous movement. The date appears in the exergue below a ground line, accompanied by Pistrucci's monogram 'B.P.' to the right. The design is contained within a milled border and is executed in high relief, characteristic of Pistrucci's neoclassical style.
