The Revestment Act of 1765 ended the so-called "Running Trade" — the Isle of Man's institutionalized smuggling economy, which had made the island a transshipment hub for untaxed goods flowing into Britain. Westminster effectively bought out the feudal rights of the Dukes of Atholl for £70,000, folding Manx customs revenues into the Crown. This 1965 issue marks the bicentenary of that transfer.
