| 背面描述 | St. George, armoured and helmeted, astride a rearing horse, depicted in the classical Benedetto Pistrucci tradition, with his sword raised upright as he engages the dragon in combat beneath the horse's hooves. The design commemorates the 200th anniversary of the iconic George and the Dragon motif first introduced on British coinage in 1821. The denomination 1/2 SOVEREIGN and the legend GEORGE & DRAGON are inscribed within the field. |

Alderney's 200th anniversary issue commemorates Benedetto Pistrucci's St. George and the Dragon design, first cut for the Royal Mint in 1817 and arguably the most continuously reproduced coin design in British numismatic history. Pistrucci, an Italian gem engraver working in London, reportedly refused to copy another artist's portrait of George III and instead insisted on working from life — a decision that nearly cost him the job of Chief Medallist, a title he eventually held in name only due to his foreign birth.
