Reverse description A large quartered heraldic shield at center bearing the arms of Austria-Burgundy — comprising the horizontal bars of Hungary, the lion of Bohemia, the Austrian fess, and the Burgundian flint-and-steel — all surmounted by an archducal crown. The shield is set upon a floriated cross whose four arms extend to the coin's border, each terminating in foliate ornament. The surrounding Latin legend, divided by the cross arms, continues the titular inscription of the sovereigns as Archdukes of Austria and Dukes of Burgundy and Brabant. The reverse design closely follows the established typology of the Spanish Netherlands sovereign coinage of the early seventeenth century.
