Carlo VI, Holy Roman Emperor, held Gorizia as an imperial fief, and the county's copper fractions of this period were struck primarily to address chronic small-change shortages across the Habsburg hereditary lands. The 1733 date places this issue in the final years of his reign — he died in 1740, triggering the War of the Austrian Succession when his daughter Maria Theresa's inheritance was immediately contested.
Herinek 1177 is among the more elusive attributions in the Habsburg provincial copper series, with surviving examples frequently showing flan irregularities consistent with poorly prepared copper blanks.
