Reverse description The royal arms of France — a shield semé of fleurs-de-lis — surmounted by a large closed royal crown with elaborate mantling falling to either side. The shield is centrally placed in the field. The circular Latin legend, interrupted at top by the date, reads •FRANCIAE• ET & NAVARR• REX•, identifying the king as ruler of France and Navarre. A small mint mark letter appears at the base of the design. The border is plain without beading.
