| 背面描述 | A stacked four-line Latin votive legend filling the field, identifying Witigis as rex, enclosed within a beaded or wreath border of laurel branches — a design device common to Ostrogothic half-siliquae of Ravenna. The reverse lacks a central figurative motif, relying entirely on the monumental epigraphic layout as its primary design element. The wreath border, clearly visible on the coin, is rendered in a stylised leaf pattern consistent with Metlich type 63. |

Witigis seized the Ostrogothic throne in 536 by deposing Theodahad, and spent virtually his entire reign under siege — first losing Rome to Belisarius, then conducting a protracted defense of Ravenna itself that ended with his capture in 540. That he continued striking coinage in the name of Justinian throughout this period reflects less any diplomatic loyalty than the practical reality that Ostrogothic silver had always deferred to imperial titulature. Ravenna fell to Byzantine forces that same year, making this issue a product of a mint actively surrounded by the enemy that would soon occupy it.
