Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Justinian I facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial tradition. The effigy is encircled by a Latin legend reading D N IVSTI - NIAN AVC, identifying the emperor as perpetual Augustus. The portrait is executed in a stylized, somewhat flat manner characteristic of Ostrogothic coinage struck in the name of the Byzantine emperor. Pearl diadem details are visible along the crown of the bust.

Reverse description Central field bears the elaborate monogram of King Theodahad, composed of interlaced letters within a decorative wreath border. The monogram is a characteristic Ostrogothic device, combining the letters of THEODAHATVS in a symmetrical cipher. The wreath, rendered as a laurel or olive branch encircling the design, is executed with fine detail typical of Ravennate mint production. No additional legend or exergual inscription is present, the monogram alone serving as the royal identifier.
