| Beschrijving keerzijde | A stylized representation of a city gate or fortress, depicted as a series of horizontal bars or crenellations suggestive of a turretted enclosure, imitating the Victory or city-gate type common on late Roman and Byzantine siliquae. Above the architectural motif, a simplified bird figure, likely a debased Victory or eagle, is rendered in a crude, schematic manner typical of Gepidic workshop output. The surrounding field bears a degraded Latin legend dissolved into pseudoscript, reflecting the progressive barbarization of the prototype. The overall design closely follows the Byzantine siliqua types struck at Sirmium, adapted by Gepid moneyers with significantly reduced fidelity to the original. |
