Obverse description Barbaric bust of a Byzantine emperor facing left, rendered in a crude provincial style characteristic of Gepidic imitative coinage. The effigy displays a diademed or helmeted head with simplified facial features, the neck and shoulders suggested by broad, schematic lines. The surrounding legend is a debased imitation of a Latin imperial inscription, with letters degraded into pseudoscript. The overall treatment reflects the Gepid workshop's interpretation of late Roman imperial portraiture, retaining the general composition while sacrificing classical precision.
