Obverse description Central field features a stylized facing or frontal bust rendered in a highly schematic, early medieval manner, surrounded by a beaded inner circle. The design is executed with crude but intentional strokes characteristic of Lombard hammered coinage. Fourteen pellets are distributed around the bust within the beaded border, serving as the defining diagnostic feature of this emission. The overall style reflects the degenerate late antique artistic tradition as adapted by Lombard moneyers of the seventh century.
