| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Justinian I facing right, wearing a pearl diadem and cuirass decorated with a row of pellets along the shoulder. The emperor's hair is rendered in short curls, and a small earring is visible. The portrait is executed in the late antique tradition, with the legend partially visible in the field around the bust. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, as is characteristic of hammered half-siliquae struck at the Ravenna mint. |
